Hip Hip HOORAY! It’s my #GETITGIRLBOSS Birthday! One year ago, I went all in making my dreams of being a business owner a reality! I became an entrepreneur, partnering with world-renowned dermatologists, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, for their premium skincare company, Rodan + Fields. I have had great results using the skincare line, and love how their company empowers women to be their own BOSS!
I came up with my brand name, #GETITGIRLBOSS, while driving to work. It was a cool, crisp morning in November in Las Vegas. I was heading westbound on Sunset Boulevard, as the Vegas Strip of resorts and casinos glistened in the early morning light. The red rock in the Spring Mountains also gleaned in that soft sunlight. Early morning flights were jetting down the runway at McCarren Airport, and I was cruising alongside the tarmac. I was listening to my favorite #GirlBoss, Gwen Stefani, “Wind It Up” song. As it blasted through my car stereo speakers, with the window down and the cool breeze whipped through, I sang along “Get it Girl…Get it Get it, Girl. Get it Girl…Get it Get It Girl….” BING! Get It Girl..Boss. Get It, GIRLBOSS! It was perfect for me. Excited to get to home from work that evening, I hopped on and opened my consultant account. GETITGIRLBOSS was, fortunately, an available domain name, and it was like it was just meant to be. I added the hashtag, because, well, everything is better with a hashtag next to it!
For my anniversary fashion shoot with my #GirlBoss, Aimey, the talent behind Diamond Oak Photography, I wanted to do a fun and cheeky shoot. I found a large marquee # at Hobby Lobby, and just had to get it! And, I’ve also coveted my daughters dress up tutus! I ordered this nice, full skirt on Etsy, by Welcometoroyalty. I chose the 20 inch skirt, because y’all know, I’m pretty petite, and it was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by how well made it was, fully lined and hemmed.
Aimey suggested the Waterways at The Woodlands, for the shoot location, and there was a stage there. It was the perfect setting for my “dance”. I just channeled my daughter’s dancing and twirling around, and just let loose! You gotta embrace your inner child every once in a while, cause #adulting can be hard, right?
I love to load up on the accessories. I paired my favorite birthstone Alex and Ani bangles (each of my daughter’s birthstones and mine), Swarovski bracelets and an old favorite, a Juicy Couture multi strand cuff. My necklace is from, Target…yes, I scored on this one! My earrings are Betsy Johnson, and they were a gift for my birthday from my bestie, Vanessa, a few, or maybe 10 years ago? Still love them!
Now, the shoes…I am all about them! And, Aimey, was too! BTW…if you need a good shoe selfie, she is your girl for the best shoe photography! I found them, kinda by accident, at Forever 21! They were tucked away underneath a fixture, and they had my size. Again, perfect timing.
I’m excited for what this year will bring! Happy 1st Birthday #GETITGIRLBOSS!
