#GlowGetter of the Week – Kathryn, Small Town MomBoss with Big Dreams

When I look back at some very difficult times, it has taught me empathy, understanding, and compassion.  Every challenge makes us stronger.

#GlowGetter – A driven busy woman, who strives to achieve her goals in life, while attaining a beautiful glow inside and out.

Meet my friend and GIRLBOSS, Kathryn! Kathryn and I have met through Facebook, and started our skincare businesses 2 years ago. I’m very excited to have her share her story in my new series, #GlowGetter, celebrating female entrepreneurs that are building businesses and raising families.

My name is Kathryn Western.   I live in a small town in Wisconsin with my husband Mike and our 2 boys (who are 5 and 6). We relocated from Iowa 3 years ago for my husband’s job.  It is a good job but one that requires me to be the flexible one, and I’m so thankful that R+F has given me that.
What do you like to do in your free time and what is one of your hobbies?
In my free time, I love to bake.  I always loved to cook too, although, my picky boys make it a little tougher these days. I also love to just curl up with a book and cup of coffee.  One of my hobbies is running.  Although, not sure that is an actual hobby.  But I do it about 5 times a week and it helps ground me.
Being able to work her business anywhere, allows Kathryn to help out in her sons’ classrooms and participate in field trips.

What are the three things that are most important to you?

1.) My relationship with my husband.  I have always heard “date your spouse” and I think it’s so true and so important.  He is my number one.

2.) My kids.  They so such a gift.
3.) My faith.

Do you think it’s important to set goals and dream big dream?

I think it’s very important.  No one but you can control your dreams but you.  Goals help us achieve our dreams, otherwise, those big dreams might seem to daunting and you may find yourself saying that you can’t do it.  But why not? Dream big.  It’s also an important lesson to teach our kids, that they can do anything that they set their mind to and work for.

When did you know you were called to do this?

My friend, Lindsay, sent me a message at the perfect time.  My family had relocated to a different state.  It was a very difficult move for me and I was so unhappy in my new job.  I was just not in a great place emotionally and I was praying for change, but I didn’t know what.  Lindsay mentioned the business to me and I just had a gut feeling, which I felt was God saying this was something I needed.  I am a little introverted (more of an ambivert), and the thought of selling something was terrifying, but that voice in my head just wouldn’t go away.  I am so thankful that I listened.

Through the ups and downs of your life what is the greatest lesson that you have learned?

Life is hard.  And sometimes, it’s just feels like you can’t take anymore.  But, that is when I have prayed the hardest.  When I look back at some very difficult times, it has taught me empathy, understanding, and compassion.  Every challenge makes us stronger.  It helps us grow in a way we wouldn’t necessarily otherwise.  It is our choice how we deal with tough times, but we are not alone.  And it helps us to relate to others who might have gone through something similar.

Love it, Kathryn! Keep Going and slaying your goals! I love seeing you continue to grow your team and your business! You are amazing!
